The first thing to think about is knowing what parts of your kitchen you’re renovating. Is it a full renovation? Is it just the countertops? The cabinets? Knowing what you’re renovating will let you know what you need to do to prepare.
If you’re removing your countertops, make sure that the countertop is cleared off, and that anything stored under the counter is moved. Same thing with your cabinets or anything else — if you’re getting something replaced, it’s always a good idea to clear away everything around it. This ensures our renovators can start on the job immediately, instead of spending time clearing away the surface themselves or waiting for you to do so.
Another consideration is meal planning. For however long your
kitchen renovations take, your kitchen will likely be, if not completely unusable, then at the very least disordered. Before your set date for your renovation, you’ll probably want to have plans for if you’ll be staying with friends or family, dining out at restaurants for the duration, or something else. It’s good to have a plan as early as possible, so that you can budget for it.
In short, expect to clean your kitchen out beforehand, and expect it to be unusable for the duration of the renovations. And, at the end of it all, you can expect to have a like-new kitchen with gorgeous new fixtures.
